Juried Art Show Announces Shortlisted Artists

The Sechelt Festival has announced a provisional short list of artists’ works that will be presented at the Juried Art Show.

A total of 68 artists submitted work, 33 artists were short listed and 41 works have been selected. They include works by Todd Clark, Jan Poynter, Jane Richardson, Frank Levine, Donna Balma, R.B. Wainwright, Julia Dodge, Lore Schmidts, Jack Gibson, Nadina Tandy, Helen Broadfoot, Bob Evermon, Doris Biddle, Ian MacLeod, Heather Gatz, Brian Romer, Doug Jinkerson, Betty Pehme, Lez Niepo, Ross Muirhead, Leif-Kritian Freed, Jack Ploesser, Wayne Harjula, Timothy Niebergall, Rebecca Samaras, Tim McLaughlin, Don Petry, Alanna Wood, Janice McFegan, Kristjana Gunnars, Larissa Hsia, Eileen Berczik, and Patricia Jobb.

One of these works will be purchased by the District of Sechelt for its permanent collection. (The price ceiling is $5,000.  Works over $5,000 will not be purchased.) The winner of the purchase award will be selected by juror Greg Bellerby, Director of the Scott Gallery at Emily Carr University, and announced on October 18th.

Mr. Bellerby selected the initial short list of artists’ work based on a review of electronic images of all entries.  He will jury the show one more time on the Oct 17th, after the “real” artwork has been submitted.  The Sechelt Festival Juried Art Show will be open from October 19th to October 23rd at the Seaside Centre (9am to 5pm).  All works in the show will be for sale.
